Growing children’s creative confidence as teachers starts with creating an environment that values curiosity, risk-taking, and self-expression.
Here are key ways we foster that at MBKA:
We model creativity and openness. Children mirror what they see. When teachers confidently engage in open-ended art, storytelling, or problem-solving—without worrying about perfection—children feel safe to do the same. Say things like, “Let’s try it and see what happens!” or “There’s no right or wrong way to do this.”
We ask thoughtful questions:
Instead of directing, ask open-ended questions:
“What do you think will happen next?”
“How could we solve this problem?”
“Can you tell me about your idea?”
This helps children develop confidence in their thinking and feel that their ideas are valued.
We embrace mistakes and encourage persistence:
We normalize trial and error, highlighting when something didn’t go as planned and how it led to a new idea. Using language like, “You found a new way!” or “What else could we try?” reinforces resilience.

At MBKA, we believe in following the child’s lead—recognizing that each child brings their own interests, curiosity, and pace to the learning process. By observing closely and listening intentionally, our teachers create meaningful opportunities that reflect what children are naturally drawn to.
